Gardening magazines usually bring a lot of information and images that excessively fill the page. I was tasked to create a cleaner design for a magazine about gardening, eco-living and environment. GreenHouse Magazine colours were inspired by a photograph of native Australian flowers arrangement. The design style is airy and light, with a great deal of space in each page. The intention is that the reader feels the flow of words and images inside each page and also from one page to another, making it easy to read the content and enjoy the images as well. As a result, I created a masthead, cover and several spreads.
Studies show that alcohol in moderate amounts is effective in reducing stress. Drinking beer can evoke emotions like happiness, euphoria, sociability and pleasant and carefree feelings. Firefly Beer colours were inspired by a summer night, drinking a cold beer outside, being surrounded by fireflies and summer smells, colours and sounds. The typography has a charred wood texture, reminiscent of a fire that has been put out. As a result, I created a logo that was applied to the box, and bottle labels.
Rose Debacker has been a holistic therapist for 30 years. She works with flower remedies and herbal medicines, and helps the treatment of depression and anxiety through alternative medicine. The client required a logo for her business, that only goes by her name. I created a new visual identity that communicates the balance and serenity that her services bring to her clients. I used colours that she requested and shapes that made a harmonious logo. Rose was pleased with the logo and its applications to the business card and letterhead. As an extension of what the client requested, I also created labels and packaging for flower remedies.
NIDA - National Institute of Dramatic Art - is Australia's premiere educational institution for training in all aspects of dramatic arts. In this hypothetical brief, I was asked to design a dynamic logo and apply it to stationary, a theatre season booklet and posters. Light is one of the most important elements of theatre. It can completely change the tone, mood and atmosphere on stage. To create NIDA's logo, I experimented with light and shadow and played around with black and white, representing these elements. For the posters I kept the idea of light and shadow, but using colours. With this, I establish an emotional connection with the audience, making them more interested in reading about the play and watching it.
